Beach Lax Teams Win Titles at Lax Splash

BERLIN- Teams from the local Beach Lacrosse program continued their recent run of success at the annual Lax Splash tournament in Baltimore last weekend, collecting two more championships.

Lax Splash, played at several different venues in lacrosse tradition-rich Baltimore last weekend, featured over 300 teams and over 6,000 players from some of the top youth programs throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The local Beach Lacrosse program was well represented with 13 girls’ and boys’ teams playing in several divisions.

All of the Beach Lacrosse teams played well in the tournament and two came home with championship hardware. For the third year in a row, the Beach Lacrosse 11/12 B team won its division championship. The girls beat Fallston, 6-5, in the division championship game to win the title.

The 11/12B girls beat Fallston 10-4 in their first game of the tournament and followed up that win with a 9-2 victory over Intrepid. The girls also beat Western Maryland, 10-2, and Carroll Manor, 6-3, to reach the division semifinals.

In the division semifinals, the Beach Lacrosse girls beat MLC, 5-3, to set up a rematch with Fallston in the championship game, which they won 6-5.

The Beach Lacrosse boys’ 11/12C team also won its division championship at Lax Splash last weekend, topping the River Rats, 6-5, in the title game. The Beach Lacrosse boys’ 11/12C team also ran the table, beating Kelly Post, 8-2, in its first game; Perry Hall, 11-1, in its second game; Bethesda, 3-0, in the third game; and McDonough, 5-1, in its fourth game.

The Beach Lacrosse boys’ team beat Bethesda again in the divison semifinals to reach a spot in the championship game. In the title game, the Beach team beat the River Rats, 6-5, to win the tournament trophies.
