Monday, May 14 – Ocean City Fire Company Seeks Support

OCEAN CITY – Leaders of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company and the Ocean City Mayor and Council will discuss the future of the organization at a meeting tomorrow afternoon at City Hall.

On Tuesday’s meeting agenda, the topic of, “Discussion of Delivery and Management of Fire and Rescue Services in the Town of Ocean City and Related Status, Authority and Plans for the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company” is expected to be presented by OCVFC President James Jester.

The OCVFC has been garnering support all weekend from the public and encourages residents and supporters to attend the meeting. In flyers handed out throughout the days leading up to tomorrow’s meeting, OCVFC encourages robust attendance.

“The Town of Ocean City’s City Manager and several of the City Council members have attempted to eliminate the Volunteer Fire Company and replace it with an all paid fire department. So please join the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company at the next Ocean City Council work session on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 1 p.m. and show your support to keep our Fire Company a volunteer fire company,” the flyer read. “The work session will be held at City Hall located on 3rd Street. Please pass this on to your friends, family and neighbors so that they can come out and support them also.”

See Friday’s issue and website update for a complete review of the meeting.
