BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity indoor track teams will be well represented in the state championship meet in Prince George’s County with four athletes competing.
Four Seahawks placed high in their respective events at the Class 3A-East region meet last week and have earned spots in the state championship meet at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex next Tuesday. Lucas Duker won the high jump event at the 3A-East region meet with a jump of 5’9” and earned 10 points for the Seahawks’ team. Duker will represent Decatur at the state meet on Tuesday.
Decatur’s Patrick Phillips earned a third-place finish in the shot put at the regional meet and will represent the Seahawks in the state championship meet. Phillips best result at the regional meet was 45’3”, while the eventual winner’s best finish was 47’6”.
A pair of Seahawk girls will represent Decatur in the pole vault at the state championship meet next week after turning in strong performances in the regionals. Katie Collins finished second in the pole vault with a best height of 7’10”, while Kacie Moore finished third at regionals with a 7’6” vault.
