Seahawks Fall to Warriors, 55-50

2/01/2013 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team fell to county rival Pocomoke, 55-50, on Tuesday to fall back to a .550 record on the season.

Throughout the season, the Seahawks have been nothing short of streaky, rarely winning two in a row, nor losing two straight games. However, after falling to the Warriors on the road on Tuesday, Decatur has dropped its last two including a 75-48 rout at the hands of Wicomico last Tuesday. Against Pocomoke on Tuesday, Jesse Engle led Decatur with 23 points. Jakil Pritchett led Pocomoke with a double-double including 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Pocomoke’s win on Tuesday avenged a 66-65 loss to Decatur back on December 20. Decatur’s record now stands at 8-8 on the season after the back-to-back losses. The Seahawks faced Crisfield on the road yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition. Decatur will face another Somerset County foe at Washington High next Tuesday.

Decatur’s next home game is next Friday, February 8 against county rival Snow Hill. The Seahawks will close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference games against St. Michael’s and Indian River.
