Decatur Boys Continue Up and Down Ways

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team continued its early season up-and-down ways last week, beating Mardela, 53-40, before falling to Wicomico, 76-53 and finishing up with a 56-48 win over Kent Island.

Decatur started its season with a 61-45 win over North Dorchester, followed by a 54-44 loss to Bennett last week. The pattern continued this week as the Seahawks cruised past Mardela, before getting thumped by Wicomico. Against Mardela, Dimir Andrews led the Seahawks with 13 points, while Chase Sams collected a double-double including 13 points and 17 rebounds. P.J Copes scored 12 points for the Seahawks while dishing out six assists. Against Wicomico, Copes and Collin Gaynor each scored 11 points.

Decatur got back on the winning track on the road on Monday against Kent Island with a 56-48 win. Gaynor led the Seahawks with 13 points while Sams grabbed 12 rebounds.
