BERLIN- The Berlin Seahawks Pop Warner Midgets team completed an amazing and improbable run last week, winning the Pop Warner Eastern Regional championship to top off a unbeaten season.
The Berlin Seahawk Midgets traveled to Soudertown, Pa. last Sunday for the Pop Warner Eastern Regional championship game and cruised past the Clark Crusaders, 28-6, to capture the title and preserve their unbeaten season. Berlin earlier this fall finished the regular season with a near-perfect 6-0-1 record, their only non-win coming in a 13-13 tie with Laurel in the season opener. After that, the Seahawks ran the table, sweeping their remaining games to win the Henlopen Conference championship and earn a berth in the Pop Warner Eastern Regional District III playoffs.
Two weeks ago, the Berlin Seahawk Midgets traveled to Doylestown, Pa. to take on the Hamilton Revolution in the Pop Warner Eastern Region semifinals and kept their unbeaten record intact with a 38-26 win over the much larger opponent. The Seahawks returned to Pennsylvania last Sunday on a blustery, cold afternoon to take on the Clark Crusaders in the championship game and prevailed, 28-6, to end the remarkable season.
