BERLIN- After highly successful regular seasons, Decatur’s fall sports teams earned high seeds for the most part when the state Class 3A-East region tournament brackets were released this week.
The Decatur boys’ varsity soccer team finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and won their last eight regular season games. The Seahawks were seeded second in the 3A-East region tournament when the brackets were released on Monday and were rewarded with a first-round bye. Decatur will play the winner of first-round game between River Hill (7) and Wilde Lake (10). Bayside rival Bennett is the number-three seed in the region and will face the winner of Hammond and Atholton. Centennial is the top-seed in the 3A-East.
The Decatur girls’ varsity soccer team also garnered a number-two seed in the Class 3A-East region and earned a first-round bye. The Seahawks will face the winner of the first-round game between Annapolis (7) and Centennial (10). Bennett is the number eight seed in the bracket and will face number-nine Mount Hebron in the first round. Atholton is the top seed in the region.
The Decatur field hockey team enjoyed another good season this fall and is now preparing for the state regional playoffs. The Seahawks were seeded fifth when the brackets were released this week and earned a first-round bye. Decatur will play fourth-seeded Northeast in the second round. The winner will play the winner of the second-round matchup between Atholton (1) and Reservoir (8).
