BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team turned in a strong performance in the state 4A-3A championships this week, finishing with a combined 321 on Wednesday in the finals to come in tied for fifth among the 21 schools represented.
The Seahawks started the week in a seventh-place tie in the state semifinals to advance to Wednesday’s final round. On Monday in the semifinals at the University of Maryland-College Park, Joe Iacona and Matt Ruggiere each shot 77, Andrew Urban shot 78 and Delaney Iacona shot 89 for a combined team score of 321, which tied for seventh.
The seventh place tie advance Decatur to the championships on Wednesday and the Seahawk golfers turned in another big day with Joe Iacona finishing in 75, Urban with a 77, Ruggiere with a 78 and Delaney Iacona with an 83.
