The donation represents the proceeds of a June 9 golf tournament held at Deer Run and hosted by Colbert and his wife, Margaret, to benefit the Berlin-based chapter.

Berlin Mayor Gee Williams read “Horton Hears A Who” during the Berlin Youth Club’s Dr. Seuss Story & Activity Time. The club offers free activities for children ages 3-11 who live within the town limits of Berlin. The club is the result of a collaboration between the town, Worcester Youth & Family, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and the Humphreys Foundation.

The Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore awarded $5,000 to Diakonia, Inc. The funds will be used to create a weekly women’s support group at its transitional housing shelter. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City "Dog Team" once again sold hot dogs and refreshments at the Ocean Pines 4th of July celebration. They raised enough to fund almost a half of a scholarship which will be awarded to a local deserving 2013 graduating high school senior to further their education.
