OCEAN CITY- The downtown beach area was awash with soccer action last weekend with hundreds of teams from all over the region competing in the 17th Annual Sand Duels Beach Soccer Challenge.
Around 450 teams competed on over 20 fields laid out on the beach at Dorchester Street for the annual event, which has grown remarkably over the years since its inception. Teams competed in five-five games all weekend with players ages 9-14 playing on Saturday and teams with players age 15 to adult playing on Sunday. On Saturday, 21 “fields” on the beach were utilized, while 18 fields were used on Sunday.
