BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity indoor track teams turned in strong performances at the Maryland State Championship Meet this week including a state championship for Greg Petersen in the high jump.
On the strength of several great individual performances at the regional meet last week, Decatur sent seven indoor track athletes to the state championship meet in Prince George’s County this week. Petersen won the state championship in the men’s high jump with a 6’6” jump. Ian Bresnahan finished 10th in the men’s high jump with a 5’6” jump. Petersen also finished 12th overall in the men’s 55-meter hurdles.
On the girls’ side, Chloe FauntLeroy turned in Decatur’s best performance, finishing seventh overall in the 800. Layla Fowler was 10th in the women’s 500 and Christine Timko was ninth in the pole vault with a 7’6” vault. Decatur’s 4x800 relay team of Fowler, FauntLeroy, Ravyn Saunders and Carly Bodolus finished 10th.
