Thoughts From The Publisher's Desk

September 25, 2009 - Between The Lines
I like the bikers. In some circles, I know it's not the popular sentiment, but Delmarva Bike Week and all the people it attracts to the shore is a good thing. This is not just an Ocean City event. During this week in September, bikers are everywhere on the shore, bringing with them a spike in sales for a variety of businesses. Sure, there are residents who dread their arrival every September, and some have valid reasons. It's the same thing in May and October when the classic cars roll into the...READ MORE

An Open Letter To Residents, Visitors

September 25, 2009 - Editorial
Another preventable death in the Atlantic Ocean was sadly reported this week. This time a 52-year-old Maryland man died while in the water with his son. They both reportedly were caught in a rip current less than an hour after the lifeguards had called it a day. The teenage son was able to make it to shore, but emergency responders were unable to save his father. These heartbreaking tragedies bother everyone, and the only solace in this news is its the first tragedy in the ocean this year....READ MORE

New Director Critical As Expansion Looms Editor: Much attention has been paid recently to Ocean City's 'beauty pageant' selection process for a new advertising agency, and rightfully so. Members of the business community and residents alike are eager to find out whether our leadership will choose to extend the town's association with MGH or to set a new course with a different agency. But this process has drawn the spotlight away from an equally important search: that for a new director of...READ MORE
