BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's boys' varsity soccer team rebounded from a season-opening loss last week to Easton with a 3-2 win over North Caroline on Tuesday to even its early season record at 1-1.
In the opener last week at Easton, the Seahawks opened an early 2-0 lead before the Warriors scored four unanswered goals to pull out the win. Last Thursday's scheduled home opener against Kent Island was washed out, forcing Decatur to wait a full week for a chance to avenge the loss to Easton in the opener.
That chance came on Tuesday when the Seahawks traveled to North Caroline and came away with a 3-2 win. Jason Stitely led the way with two goals, while Ryan Davis chipped in the third tally for the Seahawks. Dominick Mann and Ricardo Espinoza each tallied assists for Decatur. Seahawk keeper Nick Gausetohl, who collected 14 saves against Easton in the season opener, finished with seven saves on Tuesday against North Caroline.
