BERLIN- Worcester Prep's girls' varsity soccer team will likely go as far as its strong senior class will take it this year with veteran leadership in key positions all over the field.
The Mallards have several key players returning from last year's team and should make plenty of noise in the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) again this year. Senior Molly Dickerson returns as a catalyst in the middle of the field on both offense and defense. Other seniors Taylor Beauchamp and Laura Breslau will also roam the middle of the field along with another senior, Sara Noyes, who transferred from the Mallards' rival Salisbury School this year.
Senior Marissa Grimes returns as the starting goalkeeper for Worcester this fall and will be backed up by another returning player in Abbie Tyler. Junior Carson Wigley, along with sophomores Katelin Talbert, Shelby Zimmer and Mary Clair Regan are also expected to make big contributions.
The Mallards will play the usual suspects in the ESIAC along with a handful of other opponents from outside the area. They open with Salisbury Christian at home next Wednesday before hosting Saints Peter and Paul next Friday.
