OCEAN CITY - Helmets are just one step away from becoming the rule rather than just an option for anyone renting a scooter in Ocean City.
The City Council unanimously passed the first reading of a new ordinance on Monday night requiring all occupants of rental scooters on city-owned streets to wear a helmet.
Although the town cannot force riders to wear helmets on state-owned roadways, such as Coastal Highway, and portions of Baltimore Avenue (up to 15th Street), the town is allowed by state law...

I am becoming a little less protective these days, and I am happy it did not take a professional's help.
A couple weeks back, on a Sunday afternoon, Beckett paid his first true visit to Trimper's Rides, and I even let him get on a ride, actually three of them.
This is noteworthy. Remember, I am the guy who two months ago was horrified at the thought of letting my little boy get on a so-called 'kiddie' ride at the Pork in the Park. My wife had her own trepidation over that ride, but I could not...

Noise, a variety of it, is part of the Boardwalk experience, but too much of the wrong kind does make for an unpleasant experience.
Certain Boardwalk merchants have been violating the town's noise ordinance for years, playing music louder than permissible and of questionable taste. Biking Changes Needed
Editor:
I was deeply saddened to learn of the bicycle accident that occurred on the Route 50 Bridge recently.
As a West Ocean City resident, I enjoy biking on the Boardwalk in the morning, but this is no easy feat. As I travel eastbound on Route 50 in what is clearly marked as a bike lane, I find parked cars (fishermen on the bridge) blocking the lane. This forces me to weave around them into the regular lane of traffic. Once on the bridge, I proceed along the walking...
