Twisters Complete Season With 90 Meet Medals

BERLIN - Twisters Gymnastics of Berlin, Maryland finished the 2007-08 USAG women's competitive season by taking home a total of 90 medals from the Maryland state meets for levels 4-7, including 10, first place medals.

In addition, two girls were named all-around state champions for their respective age groups. One of those, 7-year-old Dana Kim of Salisbury, was one of only five gymnasts named to the Maryland state team, earning an outstanding 38.000 all-around score. Out of 306 gymnasts in all age groups she was ranked third. Maryland USAG also names an outstanding gymnast of the year for each competitive level. The winning gymnasts for levels 4, 5 and 6 this year all came from Twisters.

In Mason Dixon League competition, the Twisters team ended its season on top as well. With only six girls from Twisters competing, Twisters brought home a total of 22 medals, six first place honors in individual events and two first place all-around trophies.

Competing for Twisters Level 4 USAG team at the state meet was Mikayla Amey (fifth on beam), Madeline Barton (first on vault), Abi Brown (sixth on vault), Mia Brown, Allie Cordial (second on Vault), Amanda Cosgriff, Oliva Dehuarte (seventh on beam), Genevieve Fears (first all around), Victoria Fears (third on bars), Davina Graybill and Mackenzie Hodgson (10th all around), Kayla Janek and Dana Kim (first on vault, beam and all around), Jordan Klebe (seventh on vault), Riley Mears (first on bars), Sarena Michnick (second on floor), Ashlyn Richardson (third on vault), Ivy Stearn (Level 4 Outstanding Gymnast of the Year), Ashley Tyndall (first beam), Cassidy Van Vonno (fifth on vault), Christina Van Vonno (sixth on vault) and Mackenzie Wagner (third on vault).

Competing for Twisters Level 5 USAG team at the state meet was Hannah Arrington (first on floor), Bernadette Atwood, Madelyn Beebe, Hailey Brown (Level 5 Outstanding Gymnast of the Year), Jennah Lupiwok (first on beam) and Neva Richardson (first on vault and floor).

Competing for Twisters Level 6 USAG team at the state meet was Sarrah Arrington (third on floor), Taylor Bateson, Alyssa Giansanti (Level 6 Outstanding Gymnast of the year), Briana Giansanti (fifth on vault), Alexis Kent (third on vault), Charlotte Petsche and Valerie Petsche (fifth on floor), Mallory Rolleston (fourth on vault), Chelsea Smith (seventh on beam) and Emily Timmons (second on vault).

Competing for Twisters Level 7 USAG team at the state meet was Allie Birckett (first on vault), Kinsey Camelio (fifth on vault) and Julianne Petsche and Brooke Wessman (fourth on beam).

Competing for Twisters Level A Mason Dixon team at the championship meet was Madeline Barton (second on bars), Allie Cordial (fifth on vault), Sarena Michnick (first on bars, beam and all around) and Mackenzie Wagner (first on vault and bars).

Competing for Twisters Level C Mason Dixon team at the championship meet was Alexis Kent (second on bars) and Chelsea Smith (first on vault, beam and all around).
