BERLIN- Decatur's varsity baseball team walloped visiting Mardela, 11-1, on Monday in the regular season finale to finish with an 11-5 record on the year.
Led by a dominating pitching performance by Josh Tyndall and Lucas Koenig, along with steady offensive production from up and down the line-up, the Seahawks made light work of Mardela in a game shortened to six innings by the slaughter rule. Decatur led 6-0 after the first two innings and never looked back on its way to the 11-1 win.
Decatur won its final three games of the regular season and will try to build on that momentum as they begin the state Class 3A-East Region playoffs today. The Seahawks are the number-four seed in the region and will face 13-seed Howard at home this afternoon.
