Decatur Boys Bow Out Of Regionals

3/01/2013 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team bowed out of the state 3A-East regional tournament this week, falling to Centennial, 53-37, on the road on Tuesday to close out the season.

The Seahawks entered the state 3A-East region tournament as the number-10 seed and faced a serious challenge on the road at Centennial on Tuesday in the post-season opener. Centennial, which came into the post season as the number-seven seed in the region and won the 3A-East title in each of the last two years to reach the state’s final four and took care of the Seahawks, 53-37, in a low scoring game on Tuesday. With the early exit from the regional tournament, the Seahawks finished the season with an 8-10 record, and despite the losing record showed signs of promise throughout the year.
