Worcester Girls Suffer First Loss

BERLIN- After starting the season with a 7-0 record, Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team dropped its first contest of the year last week, falling to visiting Delmarva Christian, 32-36. The Mallards ran the table during November and December with a 7-0 mark, but may have suffered from the nearly three-week layoff during the holiday break. BERLIN- After suffering back-to-back losses to Somerset County foes Crisfield and Washington to start the second half of the season, the Decatur boys’ varsity basketball team got back on the winning track on Tuesday with a decisive 65-36 win over Worcester County rival Snow Hill on Tuesday. BERLIN- After a knock-down, drag out match last week between Bayside Conference rivals Stephen Decatur and Kent Island, it was the Seahawks who declared the winners after officials sorted out several steps in the tiebreaker protocols. BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity basketball team showed no ill effects of the long holiday layoff this week, sweeping two games against Delmarva Christian and St. Thomas More to improve to 8-0 on the season. The Mallards cruised through the first half of their season, compiling an impressive 6-0 record in late November and December. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity basketball team got the second half of its season off to a great start this week, sweeping three games culminating with a 69-25 win over Snow Hill on Tuesday. In its first game back from the holiday break last Thursday, Decatur trounced Crisfield, 53-24, as Dayina Godwin scored 10 points and Monique Wise grabbed 13 rebounds. Coastal Lacrosse Registration Underway

BERLIN- Registration for the Coastal Lacrosse Club’s 2013 outdoor season is underway and teams are filling up quickly. Registration for the 2013 season may be done online through PayPal or the forms can be downloaded and mailed. In order to maintain a low player to coach ratio, the club will limit the number of players per team, therefore, teams will be formed solely on a first come-first served basis.
