St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Salisbury donated $4,000 to the Delmarva Education Foundation from the proceeds of the church's annual fall silent and live auction held on Nov. 3. Church Rector Frieda Malcolm and event co-chair Barbara Filipelli presented the donation to Delmarva Education Foundation’s representatives Michael Pennington, board president, Vernon Rivers, board member and event co-chair, and Rota L. Kirby's Red Onion softball team donated $5,600 to the 2012 American Cancer Society's Making Strides against Breast Cancer event. The fundraising was led by John Plunkett and Terrance Kirby during their Red Onion team's games. Committee members from the American Cancer Society's Making Strides event were on hand at Kirby's Red Onion to accept the donation.

The Salisbury Key Club organized a food drive in support of West Ocean City's Diakonia, which helps Worcester County individuals and families with food, temporary housing and support to rebuild their lives. The Eastern Shore Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) held its Annual Recognition Banquet this month at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin. Every year the chapter takes time to recognize and thank members who volunteer their time and talents toward the success of the organization. This year eight top volunteers received awards.
