Salvation Army Awards 2011 Bell Ringing At 2012 Campaign Kick-Off

At this month’s Salvation Army 2012 Red Kettle Campaign Kick-Off Celebration breakfast, awards were given for the 2011 bell ringing. Once again, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City club won the first place volunteer hours award for civic group bell ringing, having put in 219 volunteer hours. Bank Of OC Employees Support Comunity Outreach Fund

Bank of Ocean City employees get to dress casual twice a month on Fridays to support the employees’ community outreach fund and help local initiatives. The employees get to dress casual by donating $5 to the fund and the money is donated to the chosen nonprofit, such as last month’s Atlantic United Methodist Church’s effort to provide children who receive free and reduced lunches at school with food on the weekends. Atlantic General Hospital’s Junior Auxiliary Group donated $5,000 to the community education department at Atlantic General Hospital. The donation makes events such as Patrick Reynolds’ visit to Worcester County Schools possible. Reynolds shared his anti-smoking messages with school students.
