OCEAN CITY -- The Barbershop Harmony Society's Mid-Atlantic District Quartet and Chorus Competition and the Show of Champions will be in Ocean City this weekend.
Attendees to the event will be able to see and hear the region’s top 10 barbershop quartet finalists. In addition, a spectacular Show of Champions will be featured, including past and present quartet and chorus champions on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Roland E. Powell) Convention Center. Organizers report the Show of Champions is an event not to be missed.
Other events gaining big attention take place on Friday evening, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m., when there is a quartet contest scheduled and on Saturday, Oct. 13 starting at 9 a.m. when a chorus contest will take place.
The cost to enter the event is $25 and tickets are available at the door.The Mid Atlantic District is the largest of 17 nationwide of The Barbershop Harmony Society, with nearly 5,000 members representing 100 chapters in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. The respective winners in each district earn the right to compete with other district and worldwide champions in The Barbershop Harmony Society's next international convention/competition
The Barbershop Harmony Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. It was founded in Tulsa Okla. in 1938 by tax attorney O.C. Cash and Rupert Hall and is the world’s largest men’s singing organization with more than 28,000 members throughout the United States and Canada representing more than 800 chapters and 1,000 registered quartets.
