BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team ran its current win streak to five games this week after beating Greenwood Mennonite, 4-1, on Monday.
The win over Greenwood on Monday was the fifth in a row and seventh overall for the Mallards. During the stretch, Worcester has beaten Greenwood, 4-1; Holly Grove, 3-1, last Friday; Salisbury School, 7-1, last Tuesday and Delmarva Christian, 4-1 in overtime. In the overtime win over Delmarva Christian, Lucas Payne got the Mallards on the board with a first half goal and the game was tied at 1-1 at the intermission.
After no goals were scored in the second half, the contest headed to overtime. In the overtime period, Ryan Nally, Gordon Abercrombie and J.B. Loomis scored goals to seal the 4-1 OT win for the Mallards. Worcester faces Gunston this afternoon on Senior Day, followed by road games next week against Delmar and Salisbury School.
