NEW FOR FRIDAY: Berger Named 2012 Glick Service Award Recipient

7/27/2012

OCEAN CITY -- The nominating committee of the 2012 Hal Glick Community Service Award announced this week that Dr. Leonard (Lenny) Berger, owner of the Clarion Hotel, has been chosen as the winner of this year's award.

Berger will be presented with the award and will be honored at this year's Glick Award Gala, which is currently scheduled for Saturday night, Nov. 10. Last year's gala, which honored Leighton Moore, was a sell-out, with more than 450 people attending the event.

The award and the event were started in 2010 by a group of local business leaders. Net proceeds from the first two events have exceeded $96,000, all of which has been distributed to area organizations, including Atlantic General Hospital, PRMC, the Worcester County Humane Society, the Art League of Ocean City, and Temple Bat Yam. The award is named after the first-year recipient, Hal Glick, formerly of Moore, Warfield & Glick, and a philanthropic force in the community for many years.

This year's event will again feature Atlantic General Hospital and Temple Bat Yam as the host sponsoring organizations. Berger has chosen PRMC as the additional charity to receive this year's proceeds.

The 2012 nominating committee included Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan, Ocean City Council member Mary Knight, Reese Cropper III of Insurance Management Group, Hal Glick and other members of the business community.

Jeff Thaler and Warren Rosenfeld will again co-chair the event, as they have the previous two years.

Those interested in procuring sponsorships, purchasing tables or buying seats for the event can call Rosenfeld at 240-447-1451 or can contact him at WarrenRosenfeldEsq@gmail.com. Invitations to the gala will be mailed in late September and subsequent media ads will provide order forms for anyone wanting to attend the event. The gala is open to the general public.
