TOWSON- Worcester Prep's girls' varsity lacrosse team gave traditional Baltimore-area powerhouse Towson High all it could handle in its season opener on Tuesday before falling to the Generals, 14-10.
The Mallards opened the 2009 campaign with a rare road game on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay against Towson and played well against the Generals. Worcester's Molly Dickerson led the Mallards with five goals, while Jackie Wangel added a single goal and three assists. Senior Alex Lewis was strong in the goal with seven saves.
