Worcester Preparatory School rising Junior Lydia Pritchard had the opportunity to spend a week in Washington, D.C. as a volunteer intern in Senator Richard Lugar’s Office (R-Indiana). Lugar and Pritchard’s older sister Elizabeth Bartlett, who works for the Senator, invited her to experience government at work. While in Washington, Pritchard sat in on the START treaty hearings, which focused on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

The Pine'eer Craft Club of Ocean Pines will hold its annual Arts & Craft Festival on Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in White Horse Park and in the Ocean Pines Community Center. Over 100 vendors will present their handcrafted items, along with a bake sale, and food concession. Free admission and free parking. The Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore awarded $1,750 to Easter Seals. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for girls to attend a summer camp that provides safe and healthy recreational opportunities for children with special needs.
