BERLIN- Worcester Prep's girls' varsity lacrosse team won a thriller last week, beating old rival Saints Peter and Paul, 12-11, in the third overtime period on a late goal by Molly Dickerson.
The two teams went back and forth all day and could not decide a winner during regulation. The Mallards and the Sabres battled through two overtime periods and could still not determine a victor, but Dickerson settled the issue once and for all with a sudden-death goal in the third OT period to stake Worcester to a dramatic 12-11 win.
For Dickerson, the dramatic game-winning goal was her third of the day. Kelly Chandler and Jackie Wangel also scored three goals each in the win over Saints Peter and Paul last Friday.
Worcester was back in action on Tuesday against another familiar foe in Salisbury School on the road and did not leave anything to chance after the three-OT epic in their previous contest. The Mallards smoked the Dragons, 18-9, as Alexandra Smith and Sophie Townsend scored three goals each. Worcester faces Gunston on the road this afternoon before a rematch against Saints Peter and Paul on Monday.
