OCEAN CITY- Ocean City’s first-ever Strongman competition last weekend was a big success with 22 athletes from five different states competing in the 100-plus degree heat at Gold’s Gym.

The competition was held at Gold’s Gym behind the Gold Coast Mall last Saturday as temperatures climbed up around the 100-degree mark. The athletes competed in a variety of events and the competition was fierce. Adam Delaney of Albany, N.Y. won the overall men’s championship, while Katelyn Choiniere, also of Albany, won the women’s open division.

Mitch Miedusiewski of Timonium, Md. won the teenage under 200-pound division, while Zac Hill of Selbyville won the teenage over 200-pound division. David Stinson of Dagsboro won the Masters 40-49 light heavyweight division, Phil Kirby of Fenwick Island won the 50-plus division, Joe Cryer of Ocean City won the 40-49 heavyweight division, and Bryan DePhillip of Accokeek, Md., won the men’s over 200-pound open division.

Last Saturday’s competition was the first-ever Strongman contest hosted by Gold’s Gym in Ocean City. Another competition is set for this September during Bike Week. For more information about the event, contact Gary or Mike at (410) 723-4653.
