The Women’s Fund at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore awarded $5,000 to Diakonia, Inc. The funds will be used to create a weekly women’s support group at its transitional housing shelter. This group will promote healthy support networks and will provide women who are homeless with coping techniques, job and life skills, and a positive social network. Kiwanis Club "Dog Team" Sells 4th Of July Hot Dogs

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City "Dog Team" once again sold hot dogs and refreshments at the Ocean Pines 4th of July celebration. They raised enough to fund almost a half of a scholarship which will be awarded to a local deserving 2013 graduating high school senior to further their education. At the Ravens Roost #44 June monthly meeting, seven graduating seniors were awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarship money. The roost raises the funds during its annual golf tournament.
