New Offerings Planned For First Friday In Snow Hill

SNOW HILL -- Don’t miss the opportunity to extend your 4th of July celebration on Friday, July 6, with Arts on the River First Friday in Snow Hill.

Snow Hill merchants and gallery owners in downtown will stay open until 8 p.m. to welcome visitors. Enjoy the island sounds of steel drums being played by Augie DiGiovanni in addition to special discounts, art openings, and light refreshments.

Nick Haglich will open from 5 to 7 p.m. for Brad Stevens, Gary Hohman and crew who will play Irish Music on the mandolin and hammered dulcimer at the American Art Gallery.

Across the street, The Serenity has shampoos, conditioners, body butters and lotions, all with non-toxic ingredients to soothe the harried mind.

Bishop’s Stock Fine Art, Craft & Wine’s July show will feature its Gallery Artists’ Summer Show. Wines for tasting come from Italy.

Take off from the dock with Capt. Jerry Nolte for a refreshing boat ride on the Journey. Pocomoke River Cruises will run $10 cruises on First Friday at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. from Gateway Park. Call 443-365-7599 for more information.

Next door the Pocomoke River Canoe Company offers kayak and canoe rentals. When you are back on shore, stop in Antiques by the River and find something unique to treasure.

Julia A. Purnell Museum at 208 W Market Street will be open and showing its new exhibits “Negro League Memorabilia” and “Masculine Pursuits”. These exhibits opened in April and will run through October. There will also be a spinning wheel demonstration on First Friday. Donations are welcomed for admission.

Try the tempting artisan candies just in at The Palette Pantry next to the Palette Restaurant. Then stop in The Sassy Girl Boutique and find Lindsay Phillips Switch Flops.

First Friday is a great time to enjoy dinner in one of Snow Hill’s downtown restaurants. Choose among The Blue Dog Café where Todd Crosby performs with WW Tunes, The Palette Bistro & Bar, The American Legion, and Harvest Moon Tavern. All offer friendly relaxed settings for the end of a long work week. Reservations are strongly recommended.
