OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City chapter of the Surfrider Foundation will host the 12th Annual Longboard Team Challenge this weekend with a longboard competition sandwiched between other events all weekend at different venues around the resort.
The annual event gets underway today with a Legends’ Party at the Pirate’s Galley. The centerpiece of the weekend-long festival, however, is the 12th Annual Longboard Team Challenge, set for tomorrow on the beach at the Castle in the Sand on 37th Street.
Last year, 16 teams from all over the country converged on Ocean City for the annual longboard team surfing challenge to compete for the Tiki Trophy in a contest that lasted all day along with other beach activities, giveaways and radio remotes. The weekend festival ends with an “expression session” on the beach at the Castle in the Sand on Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to noon.
