City Council Shaves Penny Off Proposed Tax Rate

OCEAN CITY – The Mayor and City Council cast their final vote on Monday to adopt the Fiscal Year 2013 budget, including a one-cent decrease from the proposed property tax rate, which will save the average taxpayer $20 but cost the town $863,000. A couple of weeks ago, the budget reached first reading with a tax rate set at the constant yield rate of 0.4685 per $100 of assessed valuation of real property.
