Jody Falter, representing BB&T Bank, presented a grant check for $1,000 to the Worcester County Veterans Memorial at Ocean Pines Instructional Program for fifth grade students. The money will provide transportation to and from the memorial. Showell Elementary School third graders TJ Bescak and Jaiden Denk recently donated their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. The 9-year-old boys wanted to help people who have lost their hair due to cancer.

Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore awarded a Community Needs Grant to Lower Shore Land Trust (LSLT), Inc. to support efforts to increase the public’s awareness regarding land preservation on the Eastern Shore. Arbor Day is celebrated each year with second graders from Ocean City Elementary School at Northside Park. Each class does a skit mostly about trees.
