Ways To Survive Bond Bubble

December 31, 2010 - Money Sense
OCEAN CITY – After two equity downturns in the past 10 years, many investors have sought refuge in U.S. Treasuries. A growing appetite for lower-risk bonds has driven prices up and yields down; in early November, three-year Treasuries yields were hovering around a meager 0.5%. But a portfolio that relies too heavily on this kind of strategy now may face very real problems later. Although the Consumer Price Index has risen only 1.1% this year, the long-term average inflation rate was 3.0%,...READ MORE

It seems fitting on the last day of 2010 to look ahead and make some bold, and not so bold, predictions for the year ahead. Here are a few I have on my mind: -- There will be no need to keep the snow shovels out, as not one inch of snow will accumulate locally in 2011. -- Ocean City will choose wood as the chosen surface for the new Boardwalk, dismissing a proposal to use a concrete tram lane, disguised as wood, along part of it. -- Designated smoking areas recently approved by the Ocean City...READ MORE

It was recognized that the heavy traffic in that area was too much for the wood to bear. Constant...READ MORE
