Local taxi drivers received some relief in the face of rising gas prices last Thursday, when the Police Commission voted unanimously to add a $1 fuel surcharge per trip through November.
Only recently are gas prices showing signs of leveling out, but after months of skyrocketing prices and uncertainty regarding the future of the prices at the pump, taxi drivers remained concerned about the rising cost of operating their businesses.
In response to the concern, nearly 25 taxi cab drivers and...

The Ocean City Police Department held a series of gang recognition training sessions for residents and businesses this week. The training, a good thing if it educates the public, is noteworthy for a couple reasons. First, it's the first time the g-word has been broached publicly in Ocean City, and, secondly, people are taking it seriously because they have concerns, largely a result of recent incidents. Although it was made clear this week's meetings were not a result of the near-riot outside...

The Ocean City Mayor and Council heard some more about a potential wind farm off the Maryland coast this week. If the proposal ever comes to fruition, the alternative energy it produces could power as many as 136,000 homes in the region when at capacity.
One clear message was delivered to Bluewater Wind, the company pitching the concept. If it's not visible from the beach, the Ocean City Mayor and Council would be okay with it. Any other way and it's a deal breaker. That's what I got from a...
