OCEAN PINES - Tom Cetola, chairman of the Memorial Day Committee for the Worcester County Veterans Memorial, indicates plans are in tact for the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the site on Route 589 near the South Gate of Ocean Pines. Music, pageantry and patriotism will be the themes for the day.
Keynote speaker for the event will be Maryland Secretary of Veterans Affairs, James A. Adkins (Brig. Gen., RET). Adkins retired from the military in 1997 after 22 years of service.
Entertainment will be provided by the Seaside Christian Academy, Salem Brass, Pocomoke High School Band, the Ocean City Pipe Band and the Delmarva Chorus Sweet Adelines International.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend; please bring lawn chairs. Parking is available on site. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Community Church of Ocean Pines on Race Track Road.
All the week's news will be available tomorrow morning on The Dispatch's website.
