Seahawk Golfers Sweep Two Matches

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team got a leg up on rival Bennett this week, edging the Clippers in two matches to take the lead in the season-long drudge match.

Decatur and Bennett battled all last season with each team besting the other week in and week out and this year has been no different thus far. Last Thursday in dreary conditions at the Bay Club, Decatur finished first with a team score of 171.

Emily Malinowski and Blake Marshall led the Seahawks with a pair of 41s, while Hayden Snelsire finished with a 43. Bennett finished just two strokes back at 171. The Clippers were led by a score of 39 by Cade Trauger, who was the medalists in the match. Bennett’s Savannah Scott turned in a 41.

Back in action on Tuesday at Glen Riddle, the Seahawks finished first again with a remarkable team-low 162. Bennett finished second with a 176. Decatur’s Malinowski was the medalist on the day with a one-under 35. Snelsire and Brady Leonard each shot 41. For Bennett, Scott led the way with a 41 while Trauger finished in 43.
