BERLIN- After another highly successful season, Stephen Decatur’s varsity baseball team was well represented when the Bayside South awards were released this week including conference Pitcher of the Year honors for sophomore Tristan McDonough.

The Seahawks were impressive all year, jumping out to a perfect 14-0 record to start the regular season before finishing with a 15-3 mark. Decatur won its first game in the state 3A-East tournament with McDonough masterful on the mound. The Seahawks season ended two days later with a loss to Chesapeake in the second round, but the loss did not diminish another highly successful season.

When the Bayside South season-ending awards were announced this week, Decatur was well represented. McDonough was named Bayside South Pitcher of the Year. Parkside’s Matt Smith was named Bayside South Player of the Year, while Pocomoke’s Jesse Serig was named Coach of the Year. Joining McDonough on the All-Bayside South First Team was senior catcher Zach Adams. Named to the All-Bayside South Second Team from Decatur were senior outfielder Lane Dillon and junior infielder Jake Shockley.
