Worcester Boys Rout Sussex Tech, Now 10-2

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team routed Sussex Tech, 17-4, last weekend to improve to 10-2 on the season.

After a loss to start the season, the Mallards reeled off eight straight wins to improve to 8-1 before a loss to Salesianium on April 15. Since that loss, the Worcester boys have righted the ship and won two games in impressive fashion, beating Cambridge-South Dorchester, 15-8, last Monday and Sussex Tech, 17-4, last Saturday with both wins coming on the road.

Against Sussex Tech last Saturday, Worcester led 4-0 after the first quarter and expanded its lead to 12-2 by halftime. The Mallards scored four more times in the third to extend the lead to 16-3 and pulled away for the 17-4 win. Sam Cantello and Wyatt Richins led the Worcester attack with five goals and two assists each. Pat Petrera scored three times and added two assists, while Tucker Brown scored one goal and one assist.

Worcester finishes the regular season with a pair of tough home games including Calverton on Friday afternoon and Bishop McNamara on Saturday for Senior Day. The ESIAC and MILL playoffs get started next week with opponents yet to be determined.
