Annual Awards Presented

OCEAN CITY — Atlantic/Smith, Cropper & Deeley held its annual meeting on Jan. 19 at the Princess Royale in Ocean City. Many awards were handed out at this meeting to celebrate a successful 2015 fiscal year.

Account Executive Megan Muller received the 2015 Top Producer Award. She focuses on community associations and non-profits.

Travis Hinman and John Wheeler won Gold Producer Awards for excellent sales in 2015.

Nicole Brushmiller and Nikki Strickler won for Top Retention Producers.

Together the sales team met and exceeded the 2015 new busineses and retention goals set by the agency.

Amber Brown earned the Ron Pasquariello Circle of Excellence Award. She has been with Atlantic/Smith, Cropper & Deeley since 2012 and currently serves as the Lloyds Underwriter.

BERLIN — Raymond M. Thompson, President and CEO of Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company in Berlin, has announced a recent promotion.

Ross Bergey has been promoted to Credit Analyst. Bergey began his employment with the bank in June 2014. Since joining Taylor Bank, Bergey has worked in branch operations and has completed the bank’s Management Training Program with an emphasis in loan operations. Bergey came to Taylor Bank with a broad background in accounting. Bergey is located at the bank’s Main Office in Berlin where he will support the bank’s loan department in the credit underwriting area.

Business Expo Planned

OCEAN PINES — The Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce will hold the 6th Annual Chamber Business Expo on Thursday, March 9, from 4-7 p.m. at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club.

All Worcester County business people (employers and employees) are invited to attend and display their services or goods. Last year over 30 exhibitors displayed their services and products with creative and interactive exhibits in a wide range of interest. There will be lots of door prizes donated from local businesses and a 50/50 raffle.

This is a great networking opportunity for members of all area chambers and for business men and women to mingle with fellow business owners, learn about new businesses in town and talk to hundreds of potential customers. This event is open to the public. All area business people, local chamber members and professionals are encouraged to attend.

Roundtable Event Set

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA!) will present its CEO Roundtable event at Salisbury University on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This event will showcase CEO’s, business owners and community leaders to the future entrepreneurs in the YEA! class. In this panel, leaders will discuss their duties, companies and offer helpful business and networking advice.

The CEO Roundtable will be hosted in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business Auditorium at Salisbury University. Admission for the event is free and open to the public.

The panel will feature local CEO’s Brent Miller, Managing Director and Senior Advisor of SVN; Bradley Gillis, Principal at Devreco; Robb Sartorio, Owner of Servpro; Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello, Vice President of Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury; and Joseph Gast, President of Avery Hall Insurance. The moderator for the panel will be George Koste, Executive Director of Maryland Capital Enterprises.

The panelists will answer a wide range of questions from their biggest failures and successes to the importance of reputation to a business. The audience is invited to ask questions of the panelists. The panel will provide the future entrepreneurs in the YEA! class valuable learning tools they can use to successfully run their business.

Tech Fair Exhibitors Sought

BERLIN — The Coastal Association of REALTORS® (CAR) is seeking exhibitors for its 2016 REALTOR® Technology Fair on Thursday, April 21, from 1:30-5 p.m. at The Fountains Conference Center in Salisbury.

Technology vendors are invited to present their products and services and connect with the over 1,000 real estate professionals who are members of CAR, as well as guests from neighboring REALTOR® associations.

“Attending real estate professionals will have the opportunity to discover the latest technology trends to help them grow their business and serve clients more efficiently by using the exhibitors’ products and services,” said Steve Parsons, a REALTOR® with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty and chair of the 2016 CAR Technology Committee.

In addition to display tables, all exhibitors will have the opportunity to conduct 15- to 20-minute “how to” workshops for real estate professionals.

A Business Card Exchange and Happy Hour will immediately follow the event and will provide an additional opportunity for face-to-face interaction with prospective customers.
