Decatur Finishes Strong In Latest Bayside Meet

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity indoor track teams turned in strong performances at the latest Bayside Conference meet last week, with high rankings in the team scores and several outstanding individual performances.

The Decatur boys finished fifth overall in team standings, while Kent Island was first and North Caroline was second. The Seahawk girls finished fifth overall, with North Caroline on top, followed by Caesar Rodney and Parkside.

On the boys’ side, Javier Hernandez was fourth in the 3,200, while Jack Reimer finished sixth. Tyrese Milbourne was third in the 500, Devon Mickels was eighth in the 55 hurdles and John Ford was seventh in the 800. Decatur did well in the relays, finishing second in the 4×800, second in the 4×400 and fifth in the 4×200.

In the field events, Milbourne was seventh in the long jump. Decatur continued its dominance in the pole vault event as it seemingly always has, with Evan Haas finishing second, Hyunsoo Chun in fourth and Jacob Ciurca in sixth. Patrick Miller finished seventh in the shot put.

On the girls’ side, Alison Alvarado was 10th in the 1,600, Christina Romano was seventh in the 300, Peyton Dunham was fifth in the 3,200 and Claire Billings was ninth in the 500. Emily Cook finished seventh in the 55 hurdles, while Adrianna Serpe was 10th. Alvarado was also eighth in the 800. In the relays, Decatur was fifth in both the 4×800 and 4×400, and seventh in the 4×200.

In the field events, Katie Hofman finished first in the pole vault, while Jillian Mitrecic was second. Bethany Williams was second in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Romano finished second in the high jump, while Williams came in sixth.
