Decatur Boys Stay On Major Roll

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team stayed on a major post-holiday roll this week, routing Bennett and Mardela to improve to 9-2 overall on the season.

The Seahawks opened the second half of the season with an 81-41 rout of Snow Hill early last week, then blew out Bayside South rival James M. Bennett, 93-22, last Thursday at home. Against Bennett, Torrey Brittingham continued to show signs of getting back into peak form with a game-high 32 points. Brittingham started the season on the bench with an injury, but has since provided a spark for the already deep Seahawks on both ends of the floor.

Keve Aluma also continued to shine for Decatur, collecting 17 points in the win over the Clippers. Ryan Beach scored 13 and Ja’Quan Johnson added 12 as the Seahawks continued to get balanced scoring from up and down the roster. Back in action on Tuesday, Decatur stayed on a roll with an 82-36 rout of Mardela on the road.

In the three games since the holiday break, Decatur has outscored its Bayside South rivals by a combined 256-119 and are averaging around 85 points per game. The Seahawks record now stands at 9-2 on the season, their only conference loss a narrow one-point defeat to Pocomoke just before the holidays.
