Worcester Charities Partner On Giving Tuesday Campaign

BERLINWorcester County’s charitable nonprofit organizations will conduct their inaugural “Shore Gives More Worcester Giving Day” to be held next Tuesday, Dec. 1 as part of a national charitable online giving effort.

A total of 26 nonprofit organizations in Worcester County are working together to collaboratively launch an online social media charitable giving campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 1 in coordination with national “Giving Tuesday”. Donors may contribute online to one or more of the nonprofit organizations they care about all day on Dec. 1 by visiting: shoregivesmore.org.

All participating Worcester Nonprofits will be listed on the website with direct links enabling donors to make immediate charitable gifts online to as many of the qualified nonprofits listed on the website as they wish. On social media the Giving Tuesday campaign utilizes two hashtags: #shoregivesmore and #givingtuesday.

Hashtags are a way to categorize content and track topics on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. Nonprofit organizations and donors alike can view trends and activities of the Giving Tuesday online giving by using these hashtags on Dec. 1.

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is helping to coordinate this Giving Tuesday campaign at the request of its nonprofit partners in Worcester County.

“We are pleased to support this great opportunity for families, businesses, community groups and students to come together for the common purpose of supporting charitable causes, to celebrate generosity and give,” said Erica Joseph, Community Foundation President. “We encourage everyone to visit shoregivesmore.org on December 1st and give generously to the causes they care about,” she added.

One hundred percent of all gifts will benefit the nonprofits selected online by donors. All online processing fees are being paid by an anonymous donor, so 100 percent of all contributions will go directly to the nonprofit partners.

The popularity of “Giving Tuesday” has grown significantly in recent years as hundreds of qualified nonprofits have collaborated to promote online charitable giving on the first Tuesday after the Thanksgiving Holiday. The cultural momentum created by Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now, Giving Tuesday, has created a growing national tradition that enables anyone, anywhere to give back to the community in a way that is meaningful to them.
