Lower Shore Teams Earn High Seeds In States

BERLIN- The state playoff brackets were released this week with Decatur and many of the Lower Shore fall sports teams earning high seeds in their respective tournaments.

In the 3A-East Section II region, the Decatur boys’ varsity soccer team earned the number-two seed and a first-round bye. The Seahawks will face the winner of the first-round game between Atholton (3) and Northeast (6) at home next Tuesday. Bennett earned the top seed in the regional section and will face the winner of the game between Chesapeake (4) and Hammond (5).

In the girls’ 3A-East Region Section II, the Decatur girls’ varsity soccer team earned the top seed and a first-round bye. The Seahawks will face the winner of the game between Northeast (4) and Chesapeake (5) next week at home. Oxon Hill (2) will face Bennett (3) in the other sectional semifinal.

In the boys’ 2A-East Region Section II, Kent Island is the top seed and will face the winner of the game between North Caroline and Queen Anne’s. Easton is the number-two seed and will face either Parkside (3) or Wicomico (6). In the girls’ 2A-East Section II, Queen Anne’s is the top seed and will face either Easton or North Caroline in its opener. Parkside is the number-two seed and will face either Kent Island or Wicomico.

In the boys’ 1A-East Region, Crisfield is the top seed and will face the winner of the game between Snow Hill and Mardela. Pocomoke is the number-two seed and will face Washington. In the girls’ 1A-East, Kent County is the top seed and will face either Cambridge-South Dorchester or Colonel Richardson. Snow Hill is the second seed and face either Mardela or North Dorchester.

In the 2A-South Section II field hockey region, Decatur is the number-four seed and will face top-seeded Kent Island in its opener.
