Local Breweries Announced For Craft Beer Fest

OCEAN CITY — Organizers say that more than 300 people from all over the region will be on hand for this weekend’s Shore Craft Beer Fest, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at Sunset Park in downtown Ocean City.

Visitors from Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, among other places, have booked hotel rooms in anticipation of a weekend centered on beer. Many of the attendees were attracted to the festival because they were able to plan to participate in all of the other events going on in Ocean City this weekend.

Advance ticket sales have been brisk, although tickets will be on sale through the beginning of the festival.

In the run-up to this weekend’s Shore Craft Beer festival in Ocean City’s Sunset Park, the participating local breweries have announced the beers that will be on hand for the tasting. Some of the highlights include local favorites as well as newly-released beers.

Participating breweries and some of the beers they’ll bring include Evolution Craft Brewing’s Lot #6 Double IPA, Assawoman Bay Brewing Company’s Transporter English Robust Porter, 3rd Wave Brewing Company’s Big Reef Porter, Backshore Brewing Company’s Chocolate Pumpkin Ale, OC Brewing Company’s Nuckin’ Futs Honey Brown Ale, Tall Tales Brewing Company’s Backdraft Amber Ale, Market Street Pub’s Chicken Necker Stout Berliner Weissbier, Burley Oak Brewing Company’s Sorry Chicky Dry-Hopped Sour Ale and Mispillion River Brewing Company’s Holy Crap Imperial Red.

Each brewery will bring multiple beers for tasting. Also, in a first for local beer festivals, they will have beers for sale. Growler, bottle and can sales of some of the most popular and widely-distributed local beers will be available to keep the beer flowing after the event comes to an end.

Additionally, there will be two beers brewed especially for the event available for tasting. A Breakfast Porter and a Harvest Ale were brewed collaboratively by local brewers. The beers are the first brewed specifically for an Ocean City event. Shore Craft Beer Fest has sponsored a naming competition for the beers and will announce the winners on the day of the festival.
