Worcester Golfers Win First ESIAC Match

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s varsity golf team won its first Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) tri-match of the year on Tuesday, beating Salisbury Christian and Salisbury School at Nutter’s Crossing.

The Mallards shot a team-low score of 160, while Salisbury Christian finished with a 173 and Salisbury School came in at 223. Co-Captain Jason Cook was the medalist on the day, shooting a tournament-low 37, while Co-Captain John Meakin shot a two-over 37 to lead the Mallards. Worcester’s Austin Taylor shot a 42, Reid Carey finished at 47, Thomas Polk finished with a 50 and Jon Ruddo came in at 46.

Salisbury Christian was led by Ryan Hannigan’s 38, while Ian Clark at 43 turned in the lowest card for Salisbury School. Worcester Coach Scot Dailey had high praise for his team, which improved to 9-1 on the season.

“The Worcester Prep team played absolutely outstanding,” he said. “It is our lowest score in the last two years since I began coaching and the hard work is hopefully starting to pay off.”
