BERLIN- Just a few weeks into its new existence, the Salisbury United Soccer Club, comprised of a mix of talented young players from Berlin and Salisbury, won the August Cup championship last weekend.

The Salisbury United Soccer Club was born out of a merger of the old Salisbury Football Club and the Fruitland Football Club. Salisbury United, coached by Brett Hoffman, competed last weekend in the August Cup in Germantown, Md. and came home with impressive championship hardware.

Salisbury United went undefeated in the August Cup, winning all four games. The local team beat the Calvert Panthers, 3-0, in the semifinals of the under-13 division, then beat the MSC ’02 Team Green, 2-0, in the championship game.
