Ocean City’s Strickler Wins National Honor
Ron Strickler Nov 2014

OCEAN CITY- Long-time Ocean City Recreation and Parks Recreation Supervisor Ron Strickler was recognized with a national honor this week and will represent the department at a conference later this year.

Strickler, a Recreation Supervisor with the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department for 10 years, was awarded an Externship Program from the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. He was selected among a pool of national applicants to receive a special opportunity to attend the National Recreation Professionals Congress.

The Externship Program enables outstanding young professionals, 35 years of age and younger, in the parks and recreation field to interact with and learn from members of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and other individuals who attend the NRPA Congress and its associated meetings. Up to four externs from all over the country are chosen each year and Strickler was one of them.

“We’re all very proud of Ron and know that he is deserving of this award,” said Recreation Superintendent Kate Gaddis. “He’s a strong member of the fine team of dedicated recreation professionals we have running our programs here at Ocean City Recreation and Parks.”

Stricker is a graduate of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in recreation management. He lives in Berlin with his wife Nikki and children Trey and Marley.
