Bayside South All-Stars Clobber North, 15-5

SALISBURY- The Bayside South boys’ high school baseball All-Star team routed the Bayside North All-Stars, 15-5, at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury on Monday behind a dominating combined pitching performance and slugging from up and down the line-up.

The Bayside South All-Stars jumped out to an early 15-0 lead and cruised to the 15-5 win over the Bayside North All-Stars at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Monday. It was the first win for the Bayside South in the annual event since 2010, although the North still leads the series, 19-7, overall.

The South pitchers dominated the North line-up in the early innings. Parkside’s Hunter Parsons, bound of the University of Maryland, pitched two scoreless innings to start the game, allowing just one walk and no hits. Decatur’s Grant Donohue, bound for the University of Virginia, was even more impressive, striking out all six North batters he faced in the third and fourth. Donohue was named the game’s Most Valuable Pitcher.

Meanwhile, the South All-Stars got contributions from up and down the line-up on their way to a 15-0 lead. Twelve different Bayside South players got hits, including Decatur’s University of Maryland-bound Justin Meekins. Parkside’s Jack Goertzen was the only Bayside South player to collect two hits, but just about everybody else contributed to the offensive onslaught.
