BERLIN – Officials from the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce have selected Ginger Fleming to take on the role of executive director.

Fleming, an Ocean Pines resident, will take over the position vacated by Liz Kain-Bolen earlier this year.

“We are very excited to have Ginger Fleming take on the role of executive director,” said Amy Unger, vice president of the chamber. “Ginger’s enthusiasm is contagious and her genuine desire to make a positive impact on her community here in Ocean Pines, combined with the experience she brings with her, are the qualities that make her ideal for this role.”

Fleming has worked at the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce since January as the membership coordinator. When Kain-Bolen announced her resignation in March, Fleming said board members asked if she would be interested in taking over. While she admits it’s a big step, she said she was excited to accept the job.

“This is a huge step for me and a big opportunity,” she said.

Fleming, who has lived in Ocean Pines since 2005, has previously worked for Lovin’ Life Limos and Galaxy Skye Bar. She believes her experience in sales and management, as well as her familiarity with the Pines, will help her as she takes on leadership of the chamber. She expects her transition from membership coordinator to director will be a smooth one.

“I know the community well,” she said. “I know the businesses well. I’m looking forward to growing our chamber.”

Fleming says her primary goal in the coming months will be meeting the roughly 300 members of the Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce.

“I want to make sure I reach out to them and catch their attention,” she said.

Fleming wants to assure them she will be an active director and remind them of the services available to them as chamber members. Benefits to membership include ribbon cuttings, networking events, directory listings and links on the chamber’s website, among other things. Fleming will also work to bring new members.

She credits the chamber’s board of directors for its commitment to area businesses.

“Our board is 100 percent supportive,” she said. “They’re very active in making sure we maintain our vision in providing the best resources for our community.”
